Watch this painting come to life!
Once, shepherds were told to look for a baby lying in a feeding trough. Before any of them arrived, a lamb was already there, looking.
In this original painting, a lamb leans over the edge of a wooden manger in the dark. The light comes from inside the straw, its source hidden, and it rises to meet the lamb’s face. The glow catches in its eye and warms the underside of its wool. The lamb beholds the Lamb. Everything a lamb would come to mean in Scripture, the Passover, the sacrifice, the One led to the slaughter, begins here in the straw.
This is a painting for the one who wants Christmas to stay about Him, in the weeks of Advent and in the quiet after the gifts are put away. Hung in a living room, a nursery, an entryway, or a quiet corner of the home, it becomes a yearly and daily invitation to lean in and look, reproduced from the original oil painting.
